With the 17th Asian Games to take place in Incheon, Korea from 19 September – 4 October, 2014, members of the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) met at WADA’s Montreal HQ recently to establish the Games anti-doping program.
During the meeting, IAGOC was given a one-on-one training session by WADA about the Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS). The two organizations also agreed to promote the awareness of the Anti-Doping and the ‘Say NO! to Doping’ message through the Athlete Outreach Program.
Ahead of the Games, IAGOC has prepared an anti-doping program in line with the WADA Code and International Standards, and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Guidelines. The program will include an Independent Observer (IO) team, who will monitor the various phases of doping control and results management processes, with a report to be published following the Games.
“IAGOC is fully preparing its Anti-Doping Program in order to demonstrate fair and clean competition at the forthcoming Games”, said Kwon Kyungsang, Secretary General of IAGOC.
Meanwhile, IAGOC is pleased to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) aimed at ensuring a successful Games.
West Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (WARADO) hosts 8th Board Meeting and Results Management training in cooperation with WADA in Jordan from 4-5 April. WADA activities in Asia / Oceania region were discussed, alongside changes to, and implementation of, the revised World Anti-Doping Code.
